Young Cork talent signs with American promoter

Cork has another young pro to get behind.

Ryan O’Mahony has signed pro terms and will debut in the coming weeks.

The Rebel County man has signed with MG Ring Productions and will work with US based promoter and manager George Reynolds.

The 22 year old, who hails fellow Mahon man Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan as his hero, will compete at featherweight and looks set to work Stateside for the time being.

O’Mahony won’t enter the pros with massive fanfare considering the former Loughmahon and Mayfield BC fighter didn’t have an International amateur career.

However, the Cork fighterhas strong local support and is said to be confident and keen to make an impression on the sport.

MG Ring Productions are not the most established of American promoters, but are building a stable of fighters.

O’Mahony joins the likes of Iain Weaver, William Flenoy, Marcus Coney and even faded former heavyweight contender Danny Williams.

It’s more positive boxing news for Cork fight fans, who can boast a first pro show in a decade when as Leeside Revolution plays out in the Neptune Stadium on July 20.

O’Mahony joins the likes of light middleweight world title hopeful Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan, Leeside Revolution bill topper and New York based fighter Noely Murphy and Ireland’s youngest pro James Power as a Cork fighter on the pro circuit.
