“You hit the Jackpot” – Ohara Davies suggests raffle to fight him

Tyrone McKenna and Darragh Foley will be two of a few names put into a hat from which Ohara Davies will draw his next opponent, according to the outspoken light welterweight.

Having been a name that has crossed a host of fighters lips, including those of the Belfast and Dublin entertainers, ‘Two Tanks’ delighted in suggesting he hold a raffle to see who he fights next.

McKenna has long since stated his desire to fight the 27-year-old former Commonwealth title challenger, although he hasn’t been as vocal about the bout since the Londoner started losing.

Foley’s beef with the Hackney fighter is fresher but no less entertaining, with the pair trading verbals since the Sydney-based Irishman started boxing on this side of the world and almost coming to blows during the ringwalk for his fight with Akeem Ennis Brown in December.

Either way, Davies cheekly claimed both could be part of a lottery to face him.

“Sometimes I’m sitting online and I’m looking at social media and I see I’m getting called out by this guy and this guy.

“I might put all these guys in a raffle – McKenna, [Sam] Maxwell and Foley and all the others. Then say to the winner: ‘You hit the jackpot! You’re fighting OD!’”

“These guys are my labourers. They’re doing free work for me. I hope they keep on calling my name. I haven’t even got them on the payroll but they keep on working for me. Thank you!”

Belfast’s McKenna was quick to hit back at the news and suggested his name would never been drawn out of a hat to fight Davies.

“If he holds this raffle, he certainly won’t dare put my name in it because he knows I’ll smash him.

“I imagine after his latest defeat [v Jack Catterall], which was his most boring performance ever, he’ll want to go back to fighting guys he can bully. He knows I’m not one of them.”

Whether it be through a raffle or otherwise, Davies will likely soon face one of his managerial stablemates.

There has been suggestions of an all-MTK Super Series-style tournament which could feature the likes of Davies, McKenna, Foley, Belfast’s Anto Upton, former McKenna foe Lewis Benson, and more.
