World Boxing Super Series Schedule Finalised


The schedule for the World Boxing Super Series has been finalised.

16 fighters will meet in the quarter finals of the groundbreaking new tournament across two weights and eight weeks in September and October.

The inaugural season of the $50,000,000 series takes place at super middleweight and cruiserweight, and there is Irish interest over the coming months.

Cork cruiserweight Mike Perez [22(14)-2(1)-1] fights for the WBC title in his opening fight, travelling to Latvia to take on reigning champion Mairis Briedis at the Riga Arena on Saturday September 29th.

Swindon-Donegal super middle Jamie Cox [24(13)-0] also features, taking on WBA champion George Groves [26(19)-3(2)] on Saturday October 14th. ‘The Wrecking Machine’ Cox faces off with the Shane McGuigan-trained Groves at the Wembley Arena in London.

In the semi finals, slated to take place in January, the winners of quarter finals #1 will face off with the winners of quarter finals #2 – with the victors in quarter finals #3 and #4 meeting in the other semis.- before the two finals in May.
