Wins for Kavanagh and O’Sullivan in Boston

Jamie Kavanagh and Gary O’Sullivan added green W’s to their boxrec records in the House of Blues last night.

Both Irish punchers registered victories in their respective Boston bashes.

Dublin lightweight, Kavanagh stopped former World title challenger Michael Clarke, while ‘Spike’ registered a majority points decision over the experienced Jose Medina.

Golden Boy, Kavanagh took some time to warm up against 40 year old veteran Clarke, a fighter that has shared the ring with Carson Jones, Vivian Harris and Mike Alvarado, but won the fight via a stoppage.

Kavnagh sent his foe crashing to the canvas in the fifth round forcing the referee to wave the fight off 11 seconds shy of the bell to end the fifth stanza.

On the same card Cork’s O’Sullivan beat Jose Medina on points. ‘Spike’ registered a majority points decision over the fighter who drew with former Matthew Macklin foe Joachim Alcine. Two of the three judges gave the fight to ‘Spike’ by four rounds, while the third scored the bout a draw.
