Who has she fought? Taylor temporarily flirts with trash talking.

They have questioned her chin, her record and more throughout the build up, but Katie Taylor has refused to take the bait from team McCaskill- for the most part anyway.

It’s important for the WBA lightweight World champion and ultimate sporting role model to be respectful and she has throughout her record breaking amateur and her short but already successful pro career carried herself brilliantly.

However, you do get the sense the fighter Taylor puts her title on the line against in York Hall on Wednesday has irked the ever pleasant Irish fight legend.

Eddie Hearn has suggested people will see just how disrespected Taylor feels when she steps through the ropes and becomes the first women to top a Sky Sports boxing bill tomorrow night- and while speaking to IFL TV the fighter herself let the guard slip for a split second.

When asked about American Jessica McCaskill’s tendency to question the level of opponent Taylor tried to avoid the controversial, but did throw the question back at a fighter who has fought once less than the reigning champion.

“Who has she fought? As I said I am ready for this fight on Wednesday evening. Both of us are here to win.. and I am prepared for what ever comes my way,” said Taylor.

It’s the first time Taylor has been questioned or goaded by a foe and she has taken it in her stride. Indeed the much respected fighter seems content with the fact McCaskill is hyping the fight suggesting it makes for a more entertaining scrap.

“I can’t wait this is a fight that has been talked about for the last few months. I am definitely looking forward to the challenge. She has been calling me out for the last few months, but as Eddie says sometimes you have to make a bit of noise to make these fights happen. I wouldn’t have even known who Jessica McCaskill was otherwise and now the fight is made it’s going to be a fantastic fight.

“I have seen clips of her over the last few weeks and she definitely has credentials, she’s tough, she’s strong, she is an exciting fighter and I think it makes for an exciting fight. She is coming here to win which is great,” Taylor said before hinting toward an exciting 2018.

“My focus is to just keeping this belt now. I plan to keep it for the rest of my career and add others along the way. This fight on Wednesday sets me up for big big fights next year.”
