Warrington trainer slams Moore for heading to USA and leaving Frampton with “amateur coach”

Jamie Moore should be giving Carl Frampton his undivided attention rather than wasting his time in New York this weekend, suggests Josh Warrington’s coach and father Sean O’Hagan.

Former Irish champion and current trainer of ‘The Jackal’, Conrad Cummings and Steven Ward among others is Stateside this week to oversee Rocky Fieldingā€™s fight with Canelo Alvarez at Madison Square Garden.

Unlike when stablemate Tommy Coyle fought Ryan Kielczewski in Boston in October, Frampton has not made the trip over the U.S. East Coast and remains on this side of the Atlantic as he rounds off camp ahead of his December 22nd title challenge.

O’Hagan claims it’s a bad move just a week before the Belfast fighter’s world title challenge and has criticised his counterpart for leaving the former two-weight world champion with an ‘amateur coach’.

“Jamie was in Boston a few weeks ago with Tommy Coyle and now heā€™s got the Rocky Fielding fight and heā€™s leaving Carl with an amateur coach over here,ā€ said the Yorkshireman when speaking to the Irish News.

ā€œCarl should be the focus of his attention.”

It is unclear who the ‘amateur coach’ is, with Moore’s second-in-command at the VIP Gym, Nigel Travis, also being in the Big Apple this week.

O’Hagan claims Fielding has no chance of defeating the Golden Boy megastar and as result suggests Moore’s trip is futile.

“Rocky Fielding is going over there but, and thereā€™s no two ways about it, heā€™s gonna get filled in,” predicted the chain-smoking old-school coach.

ā€œHeā€™s going for a pay day so just send somebody with him because heā€™s not going to out-wit them boys over there.”

“Jamie hasnā€™t got a prayer of getting him through that, in fact thereā€™s a danger of him getting seriously hurt. I know heā€™s the bigger guy naturally and Rocky is a lovely guy but heā€™s going for a pay day.”

ā€œIā€™d be focusing my attention on Carl because if he beats us this is a real opportunity for Carl, itā€™ll fire him straight back in and thereā€™s a lot of money at stake.”
