War of Words at the Frampton v Avalos final press conference

Today the Belfast fight fans witnessed a heated final press conference ahead of The World Is Not Enough, Frampton vs Avalos, at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday night, sponsored by CWM FX.

IBF Super Bantamweight Champion Carl Frampton faced off with American challenger Chris Avalos at the Europa Hotel in central Belfast.

Local hero Frampton dismissed the threat of Avalos, claiming the visitor’s team looked nervous. Avalos responded by saying he had not crossed the Atlantic to lose.

There was agitation, too, in the demeanour of Frampton’s promoter Barry McGuigan, who bridled at the prediction of Avalos’s father and coach Felipe that the champion’s reign would be over inside six rounds.

Frampton said: “I’ve prepared for a tough fight and I’m expecting one but this guy knows what’s going to happen. He has lost twice before to guys who don’t compare to me. He’s used to it. It’s going to be more of the same.”

Avalos said: “I’ve got bad news. I’m going to win. I’m going to take the belt home. I haven’t come all this way to lose. That would be stupid. It makes no sense.”

CWM Cyclone chief executive Barry McGuigan said: “It’s going to be another historic night and it’s tremendous to say we are going out on ITV. We know Avalos will provide a stiff test for Frampton. It will be a magnificent main event but there will be only one winner.”

The World Is Not Enough, Frampton vs Avalos, sponsored by CWM FX, will be screened live and exclusively on ITV on Saturday the 28th of February. An action-packed undercard plus the full build-up to Frampton vs Avalos will be live on ITV4.
