VOTE: The Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month – NOVEMBER

There were titles and medals for Irish boxers throughout the month of November.

A good month for our fighters as the year draws to close, it’s another tough pick in the Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month.

In total we have 10 nominees.

Caitlin Fryers

The Mac Lady claimed a brilliant bronze medal at the World Youth Championships in India. Fryers defeated Japanese, Tajik, and Russian opposition to claim a bronze to go with her European silver earned earlier this year.

Katelynn Phelan
Kildare
Light Welterweight
The lilywhite also grabbed bronze in India, defeating American Aidyl Cardenas in the quarters to seal a medal.

Michael Nevin

The triple underage European gold medalist won another Elite multi-nations, taking gold at the prestigious Tammer Tournament in Finland.

Jono Carroll

‘King Kong’ gave an eye-catching performance on the ‘Frampton Reborn’ bill, stopping tough Mexican Humberto De Santiago in the third round to claim the IBF Inter-Continental title.

Paddy Barnes
Flyweight,
Belfast
The double Olympic bronze medalist gave the best performance of his pro career thus far on the same bill, scoring a one-punch bodyshot stoppage of Nicaraguan Eliecer Quezada.

Carl Frampton
Featherweight
Belfast
It wasn’t his greatest ever performance but, considering the changes, the break, and the all-round pressure, Carl Frampton deserves plaudits for his homecoming comeback win over Horacio Garcia.

Connor Coyle
Middleweight
Derry
‘The Kid’ made a step-up to eight rounds on a big PBC bill in Florida, taking on the undefeated Calvin Metcalf. Changed to the swing bout at late notice, Coyle would keep his focus to win on points and set up a big 2018.

Sean Creagh
Light Welterweight
Dublin
The Tallaght fighter topped his first bill, headlining the inaugural SK Promotions bill – ‘Next Generation – at the Citywest where he dominated Ferenc Jarko.

James McGivern
Lightweight
Belfast
The teenage talent won the Best Boxer award at the Ulster Seniors following a close win over U22 champion Dylan Duffy followed by an outstanding performance in the final against Commonwealth bronze medalist Sean Duffy.
