The big wins and the medals kept pouring in for Ireland in the month of May.

Following a stellar April, there was more success for Irish fighters all over the globe giving us a varied shortlist for the Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month for May.

So, without further ado, the nominations are:

Spike O’Sullivan
Cork
The Mahon middleweight kicked off a bumper Golden Boy deal with a destructive win over Berlin Abreu in Los Angeles. O’Sullivan endeared himself to Mexican fans and moved closer to a mega-money bout with superstar Canelo Alvarez with a three-round stoppage victory.

James Tennyson
Belfast
The Poleglass super feather caused an upset with one of the best performances from an Irish away fighter in recent years. ‘The Assassin’ snatched the European and Commonwealth titles from Martin J Ward in London, climbing off the canvas in the second round to stop the Matchroom star in the fifth.

Mick Conlan
Belfast
The Falls feather geared up for his massive homecoming fight night with an dominant win over Ibon Larrinaga. The Spaniard was set to be a step up but quickly retreated into his shell in the face of some sharp shots from Conlan who is looking right at home under new coach Adam Booth.

Yasmin Meredith
Dublin
The Glasnevin 54kg blasted her way to Euro Schoolgirls gold in Bulgaria. The heavy-punching Dub destroyed Russian Ariana Vostrikova in the final, forcing a final round count.

Kaci Crowley
Fermanagh
The Erne 57kg also won Euro Schoolgirls gold in destructive fashion. Crowley dominated Russian Sofia Pelevina in her final, scoring a count en-route to another unanimous decision win.

Winnie Christina McDonagh
Dublin
The Neilstown 63kg overcame a size disadvantage and boxed smart to defeat Russian Alina Safina on another unanimous decision.

Michael Faulkner
Cork
The Northside 40kg put on a clinic to win Euro Schoolboys gold. Faulkner outclassed Russian Linar Valiullin by a wide margin to take Ireland’s fourth gold, one of 14 medals won on the Black Sea.

Ray Moylette
Mayo
The Islandeady lightweight made the step up to eight rounds with aplomb. Facing tough Nicaraguan Jorge Moreno, Moylette broke down his opponent and showed good staying power to end the fight in the seventh round.
