VOTE: The Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month – JULY

July was a quiet month for Irish boxing but there still was one pro show, and amateur championships, and a world title defence.

With all of this we have been able to draw up a short shortlist for the Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month for July.

And the nominees are:

Graham McCormack
Following the death of his best friend and his father-in-law, the Limerick light middleweight did well just to get into the ring but he would also put on a career-best performance to defeat Radoslav Mitev.

Eric Donovan
The Kildare featherweight was far from 100% in his win over Samuil Dimitrov but boxed through the pain at ‘Celtic Clash 6’ and issued a rallying call for Dublin boxing afterwards.

Victor Rabei
The Rathmichael light welterweight continued his perfect start to pro life with a maiden title win, overcoming the relentless Karl Kelly in a fantastic fight to claim the BUI Celtic title. His second successive all-Irish win, Rabei will now target the Irish title.

Carl McDonald
The Jobstown super bantam continued his career revival with a sensational BUI Celtic featherweight title win over Colin O’Donovan. Facing a much larger opponent, McDonald outboxed and outfought the Cork fighter, dropping him and winning an upset points decision.

David Oliver Joyce
The Ballymun BC lightweight was the stand-out fighter at the National U18 Championships in Dublin. Rebounding from a defeat in the Irish Open in January, the Navan talent dominated his way to the title, turning plenty of heads in the process.

Katie Taylor
The WBA and IBF lightweight champion of the world defended her titles with minimum fuss, destroying mandatory Kimberly Connor inside three rounds in London at the end of the month.

Voting is open until midnight Thursday with results published on site on Friday morning.
