VOTE: The Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month – AUTUMN SPECIAL

The Liffey Crane Hire Boxer of the Month is back with a bang.

It’s an Autumn special this time round, with both August and September being rolled in to one bumper award as we were unable to run a poll last month.

Without further ado, the six nominees are listed below and, as always, voting will be open until midnight Thursday.

TJ Doheny
The Portlaoise super bantamweight won the IBF world title with a stunning performance against champion Ryosuke Iwasa. ‘The Power’ went to Japan and wrestled the belt away from Iwasa, winning a deserved unanimous decision to become Ireland’s third reigning world champ.

Carl Frampton
The Belfast featherweight had a career highlight at Windsor Park. ‘The Jackal’ packed the football stadium out where he destroyed Aussie Luke Jackson, scoring a ninth round stoppage.

Steven Ward
The Newtownabbey light heavyweight began stepping up through the ranks and claimed his first title when he defeated Steve Collins Jr to win the BUI Celtic title.

Stephen Ormond
The Clondalkin lightweight kept his career alive in Glasgow, climbing off the canvas to edge Ghanaian Georgie Ashie – then ranked #14 by the WBO.

Jude Gallagher
The Tyrone light flyweight captained the Irish men’s team at the World Youth Championships in Hungary and claimed a bronze medal. Despite being a first-year Youth, Gallagher scored two wins in Budapest, defeating Chinese and Brazilian opponents before being defeated in the semis by the eventual gold medallist.

James Power
The Cork lightweight made his professional debut at the age of 17. Power, who doesn’t come of age until next April, had his pro bow in Mexico where he stopped Omar Santos in the second round.

Aoife O’Rourke
The Castlerea middleweight, on her first Senior trip with Ireland, won gold at the Nicolae Linca Memorial in Romania. The European U22 silver medallist stopped Romanian Stefania Balca in the semis before edging another home favourite, Onele Nane, in the decider.
