Vladimir Belujsky secures Youth title shot – again

Cork super middleweight Vladimir Belujsky [7(6)-2(0)-1] will finally get his shot at the WBO Youth title next month.

The Mitchelstown man twice saw a title fight with James Kraft fall through, first when the German pulled out of their December date through injury and then when he moved up in weight to scupper the refixed April match-up.

Now Belujsky will get a chance to box for the minor rankings title when he takes on undefeated Russian Batal Chezhia [9(3)-0] at the Bracknell Leisure Centre in London on Saturday June 29th.

The fight will act as chief support on a Siesta Boxing bill headlined by a fight between light welter prospect Luther Clay and Albanian Meriton Karaxha.

Chezhia turned pro in 2017 following a minor amateur career and built quickly. Moving up in level somewhat in recent fights the 22-year-old Abzhekian scored eight-round wins over Tanzanians Mada Maugo and Said Mbelwa.

Belujsky is keen on big fights from the away corner and got a taste in March when, on a few days notice, he gave former Commonwealth champion David Brophy a major scare before being outpointed.

Possessing genuine power, ‘The Slovak Rebel’ has proven himself to be a dangerous handful and will be confident of scoring an upset next month.
