Vladimir Belujsky lifts lid on “intense” Chris Eubank Jr sparring sessions

Vladimir Belujsky [2(2)-0-1] went viral last week.

The Cork super middleweight was the mysterious sparring partner involved in a clip of a heated session with upcoming world title challenger Chris Eubank Jr.

The video, released by Talksport with the permission of the Eubanks, saw Chris Snr jump into the ring to twice separate the fighters as they went hell for leather.

The clip wasn’t an oddity according to Belujsky, who was also part of the camp for Eubank’s fight with Avni Yildrim, and he told Irish-Boxing.com that “sparring with him is always intense.”

“Even if we start the first two rounds slow we always end up going at full steam for the last round or two and end up going toe-to-toe – which I probably shouldn’t do but fighting is fun.”

“I always give Chris good work, we always do six or eight rounds at high intensity and it’s an even enough spar so I think they’re happy with me over that.”

“I’ve seen him spar other guys who have much better records and experience than me come out after two rounds because they can’t deal with the intensity.”

The recorded spar came less than a week after the Cork fighter registered a first-round knockout in Mexico, and the work is benefiting Belujsky ahead of his fourth fight date on the Ireland’s Last Man Standing card on March 3rd in Dublin.

Taken aback by the reaction to the video, Belujsky described how “it was nice, a lot of people messaged me being nice too, so it’s great publicity for me and a confidence boost.”

“The sparring is great, it’s definitely brought me on so much since I turned pro.”

“Sparring with the best fighter in my weight is a great learning experience and going into fights knowing I can do well against the number one fighter and world champion in the weight definitely keeps me confident.”

“I’ve always looked to only spar the best guys out there amateur and pro because that’s the only way to become better and learn. Ronnie Davis gives me good advice while I’m in there and Eubank Sr always gave me advice and tips after sparring that I will take on board.”

Before Belujsky returns to the ring, his sparring partner has the small matter of a World Boxing Super Series quarter-final against WBA champion George Groves at the Manchester Arena on February 17th.

The Mitchelstown man is in no doubt who will prevail in just over a week’s time and stated that “I think Eubank Jr stops him late, pressure kills and Eubank can go 12 rounds throwing punches without stopping for a second.”

“His mindset is definitely something that will help him in the fight.”
