Vladimir Belujsky makes perfect prediction after words of encouragement from Eubank

Vladimir Belujsky [1(1)-0-1] had no qualms about taking a domestic dust-up in just his second fight, indeed he went as far as to pick a round and let all his followers know.

On Saturday night his prediction came true.

The Cork super middleweight stopped Dominican-Dublin debutant Manny Bique in the second round of their scheduled four, just like he had told those closest to him

“I actually have messages to my promoter saying ‘second round knockout, TKO, it’s going to happen’ and it happened exactly as I predicted” Belujsky told Irish-Boxing.com after the demolition job in the opening bout of the Red Corner Promotions ‘Champions Elect’ card.

“Luke Thomas, my coach, had the gameplan. We knew he [Bique] was always over-reaching so slip and right hand over the top and that’s exactly what happened.”

“I got great support and I couldn’t let people down. Even though people said it was 50-50 fight, I was never going to lose.”

The Assassin Boxing fighter had been getting in some confidence-boosting sparring ahead of the clash and described how “I was sparring Eubank, Spike, everyone, and they were all saying that I punch so hard.”

“I didn’t expect it off Eubank but he said ‘you punch so hard, you’ve sting behind your shots’ and that got me thinking that maybe I do punch hard!”

Belujsky was held to a draw in his debut by the tricky Anthony Fox, and he wants to now continue fighting more ambitious fighters such as Bique.

The Mitchelstown man noted how “I’m going to get a lot more credit for winning this fight than fighting a guy from Lithuania with one win and forty losses.”

“This was seen as a 50-50 fight and Manny came in to win and he believed he was going to win.”

I’ve good amateur background and I think for me to fight lesser opposition it brings me back, I don’t need to do that. If you’re fighting at a high level in the amateurs you should be able to jump in to a good level as a pro.”

“There’s no need to fight bad guys because then I feel like I’m slowing myself down. I just want to get up there because I’m well able for it.”
