Viva Las Vegas – Mick Conlan’s next opponent revealed

The identity of Mick Conlan‘s next opponent has been revealed.

The Belfast featherweight returns to the ring on Saturday October 20th, making his Las Vegas debut at the Mandalay Bay on the Top Rank/ESPN+ undercard of Ryota Murata’s middleweight clash with Rob Brant.

Today New Mexico fighter Jose Osorio [10(4)-3(1)] has announced that he will be facing Conlan [8(5)-0] next month.

Albuquerque’s Osorio turned pro back in 2014 and was matched competitively. ‘Nachito’ scored a notable win last September, defeating Argentinian contender Roman Reynoso on a split-decision for which saw him named New Mexico Fighter of the Year.

The 26-year-old has fought once since then, outpointing journeyman Derek Perez in a six rounder at the start of the year and he looks to be a solid under-the-radar match-up for the extremely busy Conlan.

The Falls Road man last fought in June, marking his Belfast homecoming with a notable step up versus recent World title challenger Adeilson Dos Santos. Conlan comprehensively outpointed the Brazilian and then took a slightly longer gap between fights for the birth of his second child and go on a family holiday.

Now back in camp with Adam Booth in London, it is all systems go for October 20th where a decisive win would allow him to squeeze in a fifth fight of the year in December at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The card next month – which initially looked likely to have Donegal’s Jason Quigley as Murata’s opponent – also features a fight between Antonio DeMarco and Maxim Dadashev.
