VIDEO: Santa Cruz still wants Frampton bout despite move up in weight

Leo Santa Cruz has marked his debut at featherweight with a points win against Jose Cayetano at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The undefeated Mexican, who currently possesses the WBC super-bantamweight title, was expected to make a statement against Cayetano, a late minute replacement and builder by trade, but couldn’t take out his foe on in the chief support to ‘The Fight of The Century’.

Cruz has long been a Frampton target, but seems to be a protected champion, just as people started to question his choice of opponent at super bantamweight, suggesting Frampton, Rigondeaux and even Scott Quigg were all being avoided by the WBC belt holder the Mexican moved up in weight.

However, speaking to IFL TV before his bout on Saturday he did claim he is still open to a Frampton dust up and says ‘The Jackal’ would be too strong for Scott Quigg.
