Upton Clan march on at York Hall

Two of the three Upton boxing brothers were in action at the weekend. Light middleweights Sonny and Pauly both had wins on the Goodwin Promotions ‘We Never Stop’ bill in London’s York Hall.

Pauly faces Russian-Bulgarian Konstantin Alexandrov and barely left second gear, coasting to a six round points win over the durable journeyman.

Sonny was involved in a much more explosive fight, battering Duane Green around the ring in the famous venue before the Norwich boxer retired on his stool at the end of the fourth of six scheduled rounds.

The third boxing brother, Anthony Upton, was in action last week in Walsall.

Also featuring on the massive card in Bethnal Green were Northern journeymen Alec Bazza and Moses Matovu who both faced 1-0 prospects.

Light welter Bazza suffered a four round points (36-40) decision loss to Bradley Smith while Matovu was surprisingly stopped after his corner threw in the towel following a bodyshot knockdown in the final round against Ossie Jervier.

With their wins, Sonny and Pauly improve their records to 9(5)-2(1) and 10(1)-0 respectively, while Bazza and Matovu fall to 0-11(2)-1 and 5(0)-63(7)-4
