Tyrone McKenna ready to ‘clear out the riff-raff’ to win Golden Contract

‘Line them up and l’ll bash them up’, that’s the mentality of Tyrone McKenna as he heads into the exciting Golden Contract tournament.

The Belfast fighter has been confirmed in the contest that sees him compete against seven other fighters for  a two-year, five-fight contract with six-figure purses guaranteed for each of these contests.

It’s a massive opportunity for the southpaw and the other confirmed light welterweight participants- and one the Belfast fight is confident  he is going to take.

Indeed, ‘The Mighty Celt’ believe he will be knocking out his fellow contestants out in the ring and thus knocking them out of a tournament that is rumoured to have a Top Rank contract as the prize.

“That’s a beautiful thing because I’ll be knocking them out. As I always say, line them up, sign them up and I’ll bash them up,” McKenna said.

“I’m in this to clear out the riff-raff and the competition.”

The light welterweight version of the competition throws up the potential of some real grudge matches particularly for McKenna.

His long time target Ohara Davies was confirmed alongside former European champion and world title challenger Anthony Yigit yesterday.

Today a fighter, who has been calling him out regular, Akeem Ennis Brown was confirmed as a participant alongside Mohamed Mimoune.

The entrant list excites the 29-year-old as he is one favourable draw away from facing fighters he feels have avoided him to date.

“There are a few names in here that have been ducking and diving and dodging me and didn’t want to fight me, but now they’ll be forced to fight me.”

To add to the excitement, fighters will not know their opponents until fight week, at the start of which the highly anticipated draws will be made. All titles held will be on the line in each fight and knockout bonuses are also on offer and two more light welters should be confirmed in due course.
