Tyrone McKenna wants to expose “overhyped” Ohara Davies

Fear is the only reason why Ohara Davies [15(12)-0] is playing down a possible bout with Tyrone McKenna – according to the Belfast man himself.

The undefeated Matchroom prospect responded to recent call-outs from ‘The Mighty Celt’ by playing down both the mooted match-up – and the talents of the BUI Celtic light welterweight champion.

Indeed, the 25 year old, who defeated McKenna’s former stablemate and training partner Derry Matthews last time out on the Haye-Bellew undercard, went into full bad boy media mode.

Davies went as far as to label a fighter he claims to know nothing about a gnat, a bum and even dissed McKenna’s hair.

While the best moustache in boxing survived the verbal lashing – much to McKenna’s delight – the rangy southpaw, whose last two wins came against undefeated Dubs, is adamant that Davies’ reaction proves he knows the Belfast man would expose him as a fraud.

Indeed the skillful Ulsterman, a decorated amateur who represented Ireland at the World Youths, feels he has the technical ability to do just so.

“He had a lot to say but he loves the moustache,” McKenna told Irish-Boxing.com.

“He is saying I am no one because he knows he doesn’t have the skill-set to match me in any department. He doesn’t want the fight for that reason. He is over-rated and overhyped, and if he gets in the ring with me he’ll be exposed.”

While Davies had came across as a a likable person in a lot of his early interviews, he has adopted the bad man persona and, like a lot of fighters, McKenna [13(5)-0-1] hasn’t taken to his new approach.

“All Ohara is is a mouth piece that lacks boxing skills,” added the Lendoon man.

“He can sell a fight but he hasn’t cracked British level boxing and is already talking like he is world champ.”
