Tyrone McCullagh signs contract with big British promoter

Tyrone McCullagh has inked a promotional deal with one of the Britain’s biggest promoters. Ireland’s last ever amateur featherweight champion has agreed a contract with UK small-hall king Steve Goodwin.

McCullagh, oft-derided for his awkward approach in the amateurs, is now 1(1)-0 as a pro and developing an exciting style. The Derry 24 year old explained his decision for choosing Goodwin was an easy one as they are a “brilliant outfit.”

The southpaw now plans to stay busy as he aims to “hopefully go all the way – a European title and then even a World title maybe.”

“As an amateur I’ve mixed it with the best, so I don’t see why I can’t do it in the pros.”

Indeed ‘White Chocolate’ will certainly get regular outings with the English outfit who hold shows in the York Hall ever six weeks and are planning to run shows in Ireland in the near future.
