Two former World champions in action in Stadium tonight
Former AIBA World Junior champions Willie Donoghue and Ciara Ginty both won tonight in a eagerly contested Irish selection versus Sweden at the St Brigid’s BC in Edenderry, Offaly.
A full house saw the St Michael’s Athy and Geesala BC aces record unanimous and split decisions, while World Junior bronze medallist Kieran Molloy impressed against Sebastien Broman.
Natasha Logan also shone tonight, along with Mark Ward, Joe Nevin and the entire Irish selection and visitors.
“We saw some excellent bouts tonight and some fine performances from both sides amid a tremendous atmosphere,” said St Brigid’s BC coach Liam Brereton.
Meanwhile, Sweden will travel to Dublin tomorrow for Saturday’s international with Ireland at the National Stadium. Boxing begins at 7:15pm.
