TV details for Irish boxers in action tonight – Times and Channels

While there may not be any shows in Ireland tonight, March 31st is the biggest day for Irish boxing in 2017 so far.

A world title fight, a long-awaited comeback, a crossroads clash, a step-up, and just genera keeping busy – the five Irish fighters in action tonight cover a wide spread and it looks ike each and every bout will be televised.

The big fight sees Ryan Burnett defend his WBA bantamweight title versus mandatory challenger Yonfrez Parejo of Venezuela in Cardiff. The bout at the Principality Stadium is one of the chief supports for Anthony Joshua’s mega heavyweight unification scrap.

Burnett’s first bout on a pay-per-view card, the entire night can bought via Sky Box Office.

Third from the top – before heavyweights David Price and Alexander Povetkin – Burnett’s fight is scheduled to take place at 8:00pm.

Josh Kelly, Anthony Crolla, and Joe Cordina are scheduled for a combined 30 rounds in the two hours proceeding while there is also the possibility of Sean McGoldrick’s four-round swing bout, so Burnett may end up walking to the ring later.

Up the road in Preston, two Irish fighters are in action at the Guild Hall on a card shown live via BoxNation TV (Sky channel 437).

First is Belfast middleweight Alfredo Meli who boxes for the first time this year versus Romanian Romeo Paun in an eight rounder. This bout is the third scheduled for the TV-portion of the card which starts at 7:00pm so, barring unlikely stoppages, expect Meli in the ring just before 8:00pm.

Immediately following this fight will be Dubiner Declan Geraghty‘s high stakes battle of the southpaw slicksters with Scouser Johnny Quigley. Should Meli’s bout go the distance, this ten rounder looks set for around 8:30pm.

After this, enjoy Joshua v Parker and get your coffee in as you will have to wait until the early hours for the two remaining Irish boxers who are in action across the Atlantic just outside of Boston.

Jason Quigley co-headlines a Golden Boy on ESPN bill at the Marina Bay SportPlex in Quincy and this card will be shown live on eir Sport 1 (Sky channel 423). Thankfully, the broadcast is freeview – so even if you don’t have a subscription to the channel, it will be unlocked for the two-hour slot starting at 3:00am.

Three fights are definitively scheduled for the timeslot, with Yamaguichi Falcao opening the card in an eight-rounder before the Donegal middleweight takes on Daniel Rosario in an eight rounder. Expect Quigley to fight sometime around 3:30am.

The show is then headlined by a ten-rounder between Mark DeLuca and Ramses Agaton.

Irish fans will be hoping for stoppages however because Mayo lightweight Ray Moylette fights in a six-round live TV swing bout against Irish-American rival Matt Doherty and could be any time either before or after Quigley or even after DeLuca-Agaton.

If there are some early finishes it looks likely that Moylette secures some TV time (on a card that is being broadcast in the US via ESPN2) however if everything goes the distance he may find himself in the walk-out bout after the cameras have stopped rolling.

All times Irish time and subject to change.
