Tracy Patterson see’s world titles in Hylands future

By Jonny Stapleton

Two Time World Champion Tracey Patterson is backing Patrick Hyland to emulate his success by eventually buckling a world title belt around his waist.

Hyland has finally flown the coup, left his father’s Jobstown Golden Cobra Gym and moved across the Atlantic in a bid to progress from prospect to contender.
The Tallaght native, who fights with brothers Paulie and Eddie in Atlantic City on January 28, has signed with Final Round Promotions/Team Snooki Boxing and now has the son of boxing legend Flyod Patterson training him.

The former two weight world champ has kept a close eye on ‘The Punisher’ for the last three years, but believes the move to New York will prove a major step in turning ‘Pajo’ into a world champion.

“I am excited about Patrick’s future,” Patterson said. “I think he has a bright future and that is why I am working with him. He has the talent to challenge for big belts and world titles.  He has made the commitment to come here and work with me full time. It is world titles we will be working toward. We worked together for two or three fights. Most of his fights are in Ireland and we didn’t work that close together because he was so far away. Now we working together daily we are getting ready to push on, but first we have to prepare for a fight on Jan 28.”
