Tough Teran – DOJ takes on heavy handed opposition in Kazakhstan

David Oliver Joyce [10(8)-0] next opponent has been confirmed.

The St Michael’s Athy BC graduate takes on a Venezuelan that brings noteworthy power to the ring when he fights on a ‘historic’ show in Kazakhstan on July 6th.

Brailor Teran [27(20)-17(4)-1] provides the opposition at Bary’s Arena for ‘DOJ’ and although he will be a sizable underdog against the former Olympian his record suggests he brings equalizing power to the table

It has to be noted that ‘Zulianito de Oro’ has lost 17 times and has fought the majority of his career at super bantamweight, but seven of those defeats came during a slow career start between 2003-2009 and of his 27 wins, 20 have come inside the distance.

Considering the 34-year-old South American has a better puncher’s chance than most it’s not a bad fight for the Mullingar featherweight, particularly as it comes just three months after he secured the WBO European ranking title with Stephen Tiffeney in Dubai.

Teran should provide the 32-year-old with the chance to impress on an ESPN+-broadcast undercard of a WBC world title fight between Nordine Oubaali and Arthur Villanueva.

As he prepares to fight on the road for a third time in another new corner of the world Joyce is upbeat.

“This is my third show away from home now – I’ve fought in New York, then Dubai and now I’m going to fight in Kazakhstan,” said Joyce.

“Everybody saw what a great night I had in Dubai in stopping Stephen Tiffney to win this belt and earn the award of the best boxer on the night.

“Now I’m off to Kazakhstan but I’ve boxed there so many times before as an amateur I lost count. Nur-Sultan is an amazing city and I can’t wait to be back there.

“It’s a pleasure to be fighting in Kazakhstan and this is going to be such an amazing event with a world title on the show and some of the country’s biggest talents.”

Alongside Joyce vs. Teran and the world bantamweight title clash between Oubaali and Villanueva, the hugely popular undefeated welterweight Zhankosh Turarov is pitted against Argentina’s Mauro Godoy and lightweight Viktor Kotochigov battles Jairo Lopez for the WBC International title.

A lengthy undercard boasts the likes of Sultan Zaurbek, Ali Baloyev, Abilkhaiyr Shegaliyev, Nurtas Azhbenov and Abay Tolesh.
