Times and TV details for Irish fighters in action tonight

It’s a massive night for Irish boxing with seven fighters from these shores boxing on cards overseas.

From world title fights to debuts, it is the biggest night of 2018 for the sport on this island and, at the very least, three of these bouts will be viewable live in Ireland.

*ALL TIMES = IRISH TIME

Starting off the night is Belfast debutant Caoimhin Agyarko in Essex.

The middleweight had believed that his six rounder versus Ladislav Nemeth [11(5)-52(16)-9] would be shown live on BT Sport but this, unfortunately, is not the case. Agyarko opens the Queensberry show at the Brentwood Centre, long before the broadcast begins, and will be in the ring at 5:00pm. It is hoped that the fight will at least be recorded with highlights shown during the live broadcast.

Moving across the Atlantic to Boston, Matchroom put on a bumper show at the TD Garden which features no fewer than FOUR Irish fighters. The entire card will be shown live in America via the DAZN platform while coverage begins in Ireland and the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action from midnight onwards.

Opening the show at 9:30pm is Belfast lightweight Sean McComb [3(2)-0]. The Turf Lodge southpaw is up against Peruvian journeyman Carlos Galindo [1(0)-5(1)]. Immediately following McComb, at 10:10pm, is Wexford heavyweight Niall Kennedy [11(7)-0-1] who fights in a six-rounder versus Brendan Barrett [7(5)-0-2].

It is hoped that, for Irish viewers, highlights of these boutz will be provided via the DAZN and/or Sky Sports social channels.

Getting to the business-end of the card, James Tennyson [22(18)-2(2)] challenges champion Tevin Farmer [26(5)-4(2)-1] for the IBF super featherweight title. This bout is expected just before 3:00am.

Immediately following Farmer-Tennyson is Wicklow lightweight Katie Taylor [10(5)-0] who defends her WBA and IBF titles versus Puerto Rico’s Cindy Serrano [27(10)-5(0)-3].

Moving across the United States to Las Vegas and the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Belfast featherweight Mick Conlan [8(5)-0] is in action. The Top Rank starlet features on the Ryota Murata v Rob Bryant undercard which will be shown in America via ESPN+ and in Ireland and the UK on BoxNation.

The broadcast begins at 1:00am and Conlan is listed as the first fight aired. However it is likely that it will be closer to 2:00am when he is in the ring, with appearances from Joseph Adorno and Vladimir Nikitin perhaps being aired first. The chief support bout of this card – Maxim Dadashev v Antonio DeMarco is set for just after 2:30am and Conlan’s fight is set to come just before this.

Also in action tonight is Cork-Cuban cruiser Mike Perez [23(15)-3(1)-1] who boxes Keith Tapia [18(11)-1(0)] on the World Boxing Super Series undercard at the CFE Arena in Orlando, Florida.

Headlining the card are WBSS quarter-finals between Mateusz Masternak and Yunier Dorticos at cruiser and Manny Rodriguez and Jason Moloney at bantam and the bill will be shown in America via DAZN.

On this side of the Atlantic the bill is available via the World Boxing Super Series website and YouTube channel with coverage slated to start at 1:00am.

It is hoped that Perez v Tapia – a fight which has the WBA Fedalatin rankings title on the line – will be squeezed in at the start of this broadcast but this remains unconfirmed at the time of writing.

UPDATE: Perez’s fight will feature on the broadcast along with the bantamweight reserve fight between Wilner Soto and Stephon Young. Running order details are unconfirmed but it is believed that Perez will be in the ring around 2:00am.

ALL TIMES SUBJECT TO CHANGE

*Correction” – Mick Conlan’s fight was initially listed as the opening bout of a BoxNation-aired card which began at 2:00am. This is incorrect and was published due to an error on the BoxNation website. Conlan’s fight is listed as the opening bout of a bill which actually begins at 1:00am. Apologies for any inconvieniences.
