TG4 back ‘Clash of the Titans’ stars to reach the top

TG4 hope to help build the fighters on the ‘Clash of the Titans’ card into bonafide TV stars.

After massively positive viewing figures from last year’s Last Man Standing card and The Homecoming the Irish language terrestrial channel claim they are “delighted” to air the exciting March 30th card live from the National Stadium.

Assassin Promotions link up with Boxing Ireland for the first Dublin show of 2019 and TG4 have indicated that they are committed to backing boxing.

TG4’s Head of Sport Rónán Ó Coisdealbha suggests that the TV station will look to play their part in creating crossover stars and champions over the coming years much like Ray Moylette and Roy Sheahan in 2018.

“The talent on this bill, is unquestionable and we hope we can follow the journey of many of the fighters on the bill; as they are destined for the top,” he explained.

The Boxing Ireland and Assassin promotional link up has made for a very exciting card with three title fights and seven all-Irish clashes altogether.

Former amateur stand out Eric Donovan finally gets the kind of exposure people suggest he is made for and in a mouthwatering Irish title fight with Stephen McAfee.

The chief support clash between Victor Rabei and Jake Hanney has Fight of the Year potential, while Dylan Moran makes a step up before he heads Stateside.

Francy Luzho versus Martin Quinn promises to entertain, Allan Phelan against Aidian Metcalfe is another intriguing title clash, while Kelvin McDonald v Declan Kenna, Graham McCormack v Jade Karam, and Cillian Reardon v Jordan Latimer all intrigue.

Outside of the main even and chief support, it’s unsure as to what bouts will get air time, but the card has enough good match-ups with enough narrative to excite the tv audience – something TG4 seem well aware of.

“We are delighted to welcome Irish boxing back on to our screens. Last year we had some brilliant nights with Assassin Boxing’s two televised shows, and now we are ready for what looks to be great night for the sport of boxing in this country,” added Ó Coisdealbha before producing a line that the die hard will love and ensure increased goodwill from for the station.

“It is a pleasure to give the sport this country owes so much to, the platform it fully deserves.”
