Sweeney: People want to see me beat up Tims
MICHEAL Sweeney was one of a number of people delighted to see Ian Tims end a nigh on three year ring sabbatical with victory in the Red Cow last Friday night.
Not because the Mayo puncher is fan of the former National amateur champion, but because he is eager to get Tims revenge.
Tims claimed the vacant Irish cruiserweight title with a 97-95 points win over Sweeney in City West back in 2009 and the Mayo man has his been eager to avenge the reverse since.
Speaking to Irish-boxing.com he reopened his war of words with the 34 year old Celtic Warrior Gym fighter.
“The fight has to happen. It’s too long talked about, we both want it and the fans want it. So it has to happen fans want to see me beat him,” said Sweeney.
Sweeney felt he won the first meeting, but is adamant if a fight he feels is worthy of a big card was made again he would be in for an easy night.
“Its a easy fight for me this time. Timsey won’t pose me any problems. Most people say I won the first fight, but I would make sure this time. I would beat him in style and end it before the 10 rounds were over.”
