Sutcliffe Jnr on course for September return

Exciting Philip Sutcliffe Jnr should return to the ring by September.

The 24 year old light welterweight hasn’t fought since pushing his record to 5-0 last November due to an enforced sabbatical.

The former Senior Champion and Irish International took time out to address issues he had with his hands and after a successful operation is raring to get back into the ring.

The heavy handed prospect would like to get back as quick as possible, but whilst he would be ready for a June or July return he will most likely return in September, says manager Pat Magee.

“Young Phil is on holidays at the moment. We will be going to the Froch v Groves fight and have a chat there. He is eager to get back and he could be ready to fight over the summer if the right offer came in, but most likely he will be back for the new season and September,” Magee told Irish-boxing.com.

“Hopefully with Tommy (McCarthy) and Philip we can run shows in Dublin and Belfast. Both are exciting talents, who have made a name in the amateurs, and boast a fan base. They also have the kind of talent fight fans get behind.”
