Brian Magee looks set to return to the ring in late May or early June according to his manager Pat Magee (no relation).
The 34-year-old European super-middleweight kingpin, 33-3-1 (23KKO), and his team have been in discussions with a number of the UK’s leading promotional players since January’s title winning KO of Mads Larsen in Denmark. And Pat Magee believes that an announcement on Magee’s future will be made in, “The next week or so.”
“We’ve held discussions with Hatton, Frank Warren and Frank Maloney,” Pat Magee told irish-boxing.com.
“Frank Warren wants us to box the winner of the Paul Smith and Tony Dodson British title fight on Friday which is an option. Smith (ranked fifth in Europe) is WBO number four so that could be a European title defence and also a World Title eliminator.
“Brian’s situation is very fluid. His mandatory contender is Stanislav Kashtanov, but that is nine months away so we will explore a number of options ahead of that.”
