Ireland’s nine-man squad for the final AIBA Olympic Qualifier’s in Athens will depart for Greece next Saturday.

Big names such as Ken Egan and Darren Sutherland will be hoping to join Paddy Barnes and John Joe Nevin in China for the August showpiece.

In total, 286 boxers from across the globe will be in Beijing.

Last week Cavan man Nevin’s chances of success at the Games received a major boost with a special €10,000 training grant.

The Athens qualifiers take place from April 7-14.
