Steven Ward scores easy stoppage win in Belfast

Steven Ward claimed a second successive stoppage win tonight in Belfast.

The Newtownabbey light heavy was in action on the Ginley Promotions ‘Danger at The Devenish’ bill in the chief support bout and scored a rather facile win.

The Commonwealth Games silver medalist was due to face Sheffield’s former Central Area champion Carl Wild – but a fight-week change meant that he instead faced Hungarian Attila Tibor Nagy.

The Magyar offered little resistance, and was put away in 90 seconds, with Ward reigning in shots with no response.

Ward improves to 5(2)-0, but there will be tougher tests ahead. The overmatched late replacement Nagy falls to  15(1)-27(9)-5
