Steve Collins Jr opponent named for Thursday’s fight in Boston

Steve Collins Jr [6(2)-0-1] returns to the ring in Boston this Thursday, and the Dublin light heavyweight has been handed a solid opponent for the Murphy’s Boxing ‘The Memorial Series III’ show.

The Wolfhound will face local boxer Ralph Johnson [2(1)-6(2)] at the Memorial Hall in Melrose.

While Johnson’s record may seem unimpressive, Collins Jr explained to FeelTheTip that “he is a good and very tall/rangy fighter who has a record that doesn’t complement his skill set as I have watched his fights and he didn’t get the decisions he deserved.”

Thursday’s fight is the 26 year old’s second Stateside scrap in quick succession and Collins will be happy with his current level of activity as he seeks to get back into the swing of things following an extended period out injured.

The Celtic Warriors puncher is confident that Johnson will provide a much more durable foe than his recent bout with Tyrell Bates which ended in farcical circumstances.
