State champ Wallace adds another knockout to his resume

Conor Wallace [6(5)-0] made it five stoppage wins from six fights as he continued his impressive start to professional life Down Under last weekend.

The Australian based Newry light heavyweight knocked out Indonesian Marco Tuhumury [13(5)-24(13)-1] at the Fortitude Stadium, Newstead on Saturday.

The win is the 22 year old’s sixth successive victory since turning over in September of last year and his fifth within the distance.

The Irish U22 and Ulster Senior champion won and defended the Queensland State title in his last two fights with victories over Marlon Toby and Alex Brunetta respectively.

The strap wasn’t on the line during Saturday’s contest, but will be up for grabs when Wallace returns to the ring.

Wallace will defend the title against Jackson King  as he returns to the Fortitude Stadium debut as soon as July 27.

The Steve Deller coached and managed fighter has enjoyed significant early and comparisons to the likes of former IBF super bantamweight world champion TJ Doheny and WBO light middleweight world title challenger Dennis Hogan will begin to be made.

Indeed Deller is confident the young fighter will reach emulate both and reach world level.

“I don’t usually say a lot about the boxers under my care early as we all know there is a lot of factors that go into taking a good amateur to a professional world title. I can only say I was that impressed with Conor Wallace the kid from Newry that I have gone out on a limb and stated that he will be a world champion.”
