Spike O’Sullivan rips into David Lemieux at fiery press conference

Spike O’Sullivan [28(20)-2(1)] let rip at David Lemieux this evening at the Gennady Golovkin v Canelo Alvarez undercard press conference in Las Vegas.

The Cork middleweight takes on former champ Lemieux [39(33)-4(2)] in one of the chief support bouts at the T-Mobile Arena this weekend and it’s fair to say there’s no love lost between the pair.

Online the two have traded barbs while, on Tuesday, they both promised knockouts at the official fighter arrivals.

However, this evening, O’Sullivan took it to the next level in front of a rather stunned U.S. audience.

Taking the stage at the undercard press conference, the Mahon 33-year-old aimed a succession of verbal volleys at his Canadian opponent.

Sniffing the air in an exaggerated fashion, O’Sullivan asked “what is that? Do you smell that?”

“I think I smell fear,” he added before addressing Lemieux.

“This little greaseball here, I just passed him in the corridor there and I think I could smell a bit of shit, he must have shit himself.”

The pair will meet in the ring on Saturday night live on HBO pay-per-view and on eir Sport in Ireland but O’Sullivan claimed their punch up almost came two days early.

The Leesider revealed how it took all I had, my resolve, my discipline, not to smash your head in right there in the lobby you little greasy piece of shit.”

“Saturday night, we’re going to fight, the talking will be done, and the fight will be like our careers – he’s on the way down, I’m on the way up.”

“Saturday night, be ready, you greasy piece of shit.”

29-year-old Lemieux then had his turn at the podium and stated that “the talk is done.”

“It’s time to walk the walk. My opponent has been doing so much yapping, I’m sure his chin is going to be very warmed up for the fight and he’s going to need it.”

“What can I say? I’m coming here to get back on top. Gary’s in front of me, he’s not going to stay in front of me.”

“I’m ready for twelve rounds, whatever I need to do, I’m going to do and I’m going to do beautifully.”

“If he passes eight rounds, respect to him but all that blah, blah, blah is done. He’s just scared, that’s why he’s talking so much. Relax, you’re going to get knocked out.”

“I promise you a great fight, it’s going to be tremendous.”

Following all the press conference talk, the pair then went head to head – with O’Sullivan leaning in before being pushed back by Lemieux as the pair were separated and reset for another tense staredown.
