Spike leads local GAA side to Championship glory

Ahead of his quest for light middleweight title glory, Spike O’Sullivan can now count a Cork Junior C football Championship among his achievements.

Lining out for his local side Ballinure, as he has done throughout the season, Spike helped the South Cork side overcome their cross-city rivals Redmonds GAA in a titanic tussle on home turf.

The big-punching Celtic Rebel is normally a free-scoring forward, however was forced into a positional change right before throw-in when Ballinure suffered a typical Junior Football warm-up injury to their left corner back. O’Sullivan was therefore called upon to fill in in the full back line and put in a Man of the Match performance in a 0-12 to 1-4 win that saw Ballinure play the majority of the second half with just 14 men.

The game was a handy additional piece of cardio work for the Celtic Warriors fighter, who is aiming to move down to the 154lbs division – although the post-match celebrations may have undone this!
