Sonny Upton secures comeback date following controversial title loss

Sonny Upton [12(5)-3(1)] has secured a date for his return from his recent title loss.

It has been announced that the Belfast light middleweight will feature on the MTK Scotland ‘Fright Night’ card at the Paisley Lagoon Leisure Centre in Glasgow on Saturday October 28th.

Last time out, in March, Upton controversially lost a majority decision to Matthew Ryan in a vacant BBBoC English title fight in Manchester. The 28 year old and his team chased a rematch, but Ryan would elect to face Matchroom’s Ted Cheeseman in July where he was stopped in the third round.

The fight in Scotland will be Upton’s first under new trainer Ray Ginley of the Immanuel Boxing Academy on the Glen Road.

Also featuring on the bill in eight weeks time will be Iain Butcher, Jordan McCorry, Marc Kerr, Stefan Sanderson, Calvin McCord, Adam McKenzie, Paul Kean, and Ahmed Ibrahim.

An opponent for Upton will be confirmed shortly.
