Cork middle Christina Desmond and Athlone heavy Ken Okungbowa became the first ever Irish fighters to medal at the championships on Tuesday and are now looking to continue their Thai odyssey.

First up is Limerick Institute of Technology student Desmond at 8:30am (Irish time). The Leesider is up against Pole Natalia Hollinska who has received a bye straight into the semi finals.

Athlone Institute of Technology student Okungbowa steps into the ring for semi final action at 11:45am (Irish time). The big Midlander faces Frenchman Dylan Bregeon. The Nantes boxer took home bronze from the 2013 Universiade and will provide a tough test for Okungbowa, who carries a cut above his left eye into the bout.
