Seconds Out – Mick Conlan reveals what’s next

Michael Conlan [1(1)-0] expects to fight for the second time as a pro in Boston as soon as May.

The Belfast star made his pro debut under massive spotlight and surrounded by pomp in New York on St Patrick’s Day, registering a stoppage win over Tim Ibarra, following probably the biggest ever debutante ring walk in the history of boxing.

The former World amateur number #1 is certainly being built for stardom and caught the imagination of the Irish in America on Friday.

The Belfast native, whose promotional contract has a fight in Ireland once a year clause, looks set to play the Irish card further as he makes a quick return to the ring.

Nothing official has been confirmed, but Conlan revealed he should return in May and is set to put on another event in Boston.

“They were saying Boston, a May date, early May or mid-May,” Conlan said when asked about what was next.

“I think that is the next date. I’m looking forward to it. Boston will be another kind of Garden event.”

Carl Moretti of Top Rank informed BoxingScene.com that this date will either be May 12th or the 19th.

The younger brother of super flyweight World title hopeful Jamie Conlan and son of respected Irish amateur coach John will now take a week off before returning to camp in LA to prepare for May.
