Sean McComb promising to look even better in toughest test

The more honest fight fan will admit they have been surprised with how well Sean McComb [6(3)-0] has impressed since turning over late last year.

The Belfast fighter had shown enough as an amateur to suggest he would have a solid pro career and after some learning and adapting on the job success was a possibility.

However, after six quick-fire wins and some really eye-catching performances, the predictions have been rapidly revised.

The 26-year-old is now deemed one of the country’s best prospects and is being heralded as one to watch in 2019.

‘The Public Nuisance’ has performed in every fight and looks to have the temperament and capabilities to continue to move up the levels.

The fighter himself warns those sending praise his way they have yet to see him at his best and he is promising to improve on a near perfect start tonight.

“I’ve improved in a lot of areas ahead of this one. I’ve always had different abilities but you’ll see even greater punch selection this time. I believe you’ll see more power shots too,” said McComb ahead of his Ulster Hall-hosted Ryan Burnett undercard clash.

“Serban is an aggressive fighter and I’ll know he’ll come forward so I’ve got to put a bit more whip on my punches. I believe you’ll see a significant improvement in that area of my game.”

The Serban McComb discusses is Czech champion Miroslav Serban. The former International amateur has Belfast fighter previous having dropped recent British title and upcoming European challenger Paul Hyland Jr en-route to a competitive points defeat in February. 

Serban certainly has the capabilities to test McComb, but the Turf Lodge fighter isn’t overly worried.

“It’s another step up in class and I’m moving quickly. I believe I’m that level anyway because coming off my achievements in the amateurs, this is where I feel I belong.”

“This guy was an elite fighter himself. He boxed on the Czech Republic team and you need to have power to box at international level like that, but I’ll be focused on my own punching technique rather than his.”
