Leo Santa Cruz [32(18)-0-1] believes that he has seen flaws in Carl Frampton that will allow him to knock out the Belfast man when the two meet on July 30th.

El Terremoto takes on Frampton [22(14)-0] at the end of the month, and he feels that their respective styles, strengths, and weaknesses, will mesh to result in an inside-the-distance victory for him.

When asked by Sky Sports whether he foresees a knockout win at the Barclays Centre, the Californian replied that “I think so.”

“Frampton, he’s a strong fighter, a tough fighter, and you never know what’s gonna happen, but I’m gonna go out there and try to knock him out.”

The Mexican-American’s kayo confidence comes from his scouting mission one year ago today when he saw Frampton downed twice in the opening round against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr in El Paso and Santa Cruz revealed that “I’ve seen little things that could hurt him, like the right hand.”

“When he fought against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr he hurt him with the jab then he dropped him with the right.”

“He dropped him one time then the other time he hurt him.”

Emboldened by Frampton’s performance in Texas, 27 year old Santa Cruz feels he can do something similar at the end of the month, noting that “I think that hopefully I can land that big right hand and stop him.”

“I think by the sixth or seventh round, he gets gassed out, he gets tired, and I think with my pressure he’s going to get tired.”

“He’s gonna get tired and I’m gonna break him down and I think I can stop him in the later rounds.”
