Santa Cruz: Frampton will beat Martinez and become IBF king

MEXICAN STAR Leo Santa Cruz has predicted that Carl Frampton will beat Kiko Martinez in their upcoming IBF World Super-Bantamweight title showdown live on BoxNation.

The unbeaten WBC title holder (above, left), who faces Manuel Roman on the Mayweather v Maidana card, also live on BoxNation, has said he expects the Irishman to win his rematch against Spain’s Martinez and that he could face Frampton in a mouthwatering unification bout early next year.

“I think Frampton wins that fight and he will become the IBF king,” Santa Cruz said to newsletter.co.uk.

“It will be a hard fight, maybe even 50/50, but I think Frampton (below, left) is better and he will beat Martinez. I am prepared to come to Europe and face Frampton, Martinez or Scott Quigg – but I leave all that to my manager and promoter.”

Santa Cruz himself is weeks away from facing 17-2-3 Manuel Roman in a WBC World Super-Bantamweight title defence which many expect him to win with ease. However, if the California-based 26-year-old does beat Roman, a unification bout against the winner of Martinez v Frampton would represent his hardest challenge to date.
