St Francis are back in Intermediate football.

Just days shy of the new season the John Hyland Park outfit have been granted promotion from Major Sunday.

The famous club only returned to Senior football after a year sabbatical last season and were entered into a very competitive division.

The compete alongside relatively new LSL sides Collinstown, Kilbarrack and Willow Park for promotion over the 22 game season.

However, they finished best of the rest on 39 points and nine points shy of Willow who went up along with the aforementioned AUL sides.

Another season at the top of the LSL junior ranks looked on the cards, but the former FAI Senior Cup finalists will now compete in LSL Senior 1 B and make a return to the Intermediate ranks.

Francis have benefited from the withdrawal of Kildare side Confey, who finished tenth in the Intermediate fourth tier last term and considering they finished best of the rest in terms of promotions were extended an in invite to the Senior 1B.
