Ryan Burnett v Nonito Donaire – BETTING ODDS

Ryan Burnett [19(9)-0] faces the biggest ‘name’ of his career tomorrow night [Saturday November 3rd] in Glasgow.

Ireland’s WBA bantamweight champion puts his belt on the line in the quarter-finals of the World Boxing Super Series against Filipino legend Nonito Donaire [38(24)-5(1)].

The first seed in the competition, Burnett chose the 35-year-old as his opening opponent at the Draft Gala in Moscow during the summer and, following some uncertainty surrounding Donaire’s ability to make weight, the pair both weighed in today successfully ahead of the clash at the SSE Hydro.

A big fight for Burnett, it is one which the bookmakers believe he will win handily and the Belfast star is a prohibitive favourite for the clash and is a best-priced 1/7 with William Hill. By comparison, Donaire can be had at 6/1 with SkyBet.

The draw is 25/1 with most outlets but 33/1 with Marathon. It should be noted that, due to the tournament nature of the bout, if the fight should be ruled a draw by the three scoring judges, the card of a fourth judge will be brought in to determine a winner to go through to the semi-finals and a unification with WBO champ Zolani Tete. However, should this occur, the result of the bout, in betting terms and on the fighters’ records, will be a draw.

The real value, as always, looks to be in the Method of Victory markets. While he has not scored a knockout in years, a stoppage for Burnett at 34/13 (Marathon) looks a value bet considering Donaire’s two-division weight drop. A points win for Burnett comes in at 4/6 with Coral.

If Donaire can bring his power down with him, a knockout will net backers a tidy sum at 14/1 (Marathon). A points triumph for Donaire is 10/1 with SkyBet.

In terms of going the distance, the clash is 1/2 to go the full 12 with SkyBet and 9/5 to end early with 188Bet.
