Rising Ray Moylette to headline first show next month

Ray Moylette [11(4)-0] will headline his first card next month.

A massive Mayo homecoming at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar remains in the pipeline but first Moylette will experience headlining in America.

It has been announced today that the Mayo lightweight will fight in Lincoln, Rhode Island, on Friday September 14th at the Twin River Casino.

Topping a CES Boxing and Murphys Boxing co-promotion, Moylette will take on reigning New England light welterweight champion and local favourite Nick DeLomba [13(3)-2(1)] over eight rounds.

The 28-year-old Cranston fighter looks set to be the toughest opponent, on paper, of Moylette’s career thus far. DeLomba has a number of notable wins on his record including Edwin Soto, Juan Rodriguez Jr, Amos Cowart, Freddie Sanchez and Louis Cruz for which he won the lightly-regarded UBF All-America title. His losses come via a first-round stoppage to Gledwin Ortiz in 2015 and a ten-round points loss to the unbeaten Jimmy Williams last year up at welterweight for the WBC USA rankings title.

It’s a third consecutive eight rounder for Moylette who has really stepped up in 2018.

The Islandeady 28-year-old defeated Boston rival Matt Doherty on a Golden Boy card in March before stopping tough Nicaraguan Jorge Moreno in May and following this up with a points win over former New York champ Daniel Sostre in June.

It had been anticipated that Moylette would feature on the Assassin Boxing card in Dublin on October 6h ahead of his planned Mayo homecoming in late November or early December. This may still be the case, however he has a sizeable task ahead of him on September 14th.

Also featuring on the card in just over five weeks time will be Anthony Marsella Jr., Juiseppe Cusumano, Phil Dudley, Ranse Andino, Shayna Foppiano, Raphael Akpejiori, Kris Jacobs, Victor Reynoso, Maurilio Alava and Nicholas Briggs.
