Ricky Hatton has some bad news for an Irish boxing super-fan

Ricky Hatton was in Ireland’s fight capital over the weekend.

The two-weight world champ, now a trainer, was in Belfast for his fighter Zhanat Zhakiyanov’s world title unification with local lad Ryan Burnett.

Ahead of the fight at the SSE Odyssey Arena on Saturday night, which Burnett won via unanimous decision, Hatton caught up with Irish boxing’s leading H2O technician Mark Kennedy.

Dubliner Kennedy was in Belfast to work the corner of Clondalkin lightweight Stephen Ormond – who was controversially defeated by Belfast’s Paul Hyland Jr in the chief support.

Kennedy used the meeting with Hatton to prove to one of his friends that they had been conned.

The friend in question had paid a princely sum of €4,500 for a signed glove, allegedly worn by Hatton in the Manchester legend’s fight with Floyd Mayweather back in 2007.

The only problem is that it is most definitely not one of the gloves worn by Hatton that night in Vegas – and Kennedy got a video to prove it.
