RESULTS: The Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month – JUNE

Following three days of voting, The Liffey Crane Hire Boxer of the Month for June has been selected.

With big achievements in both the amateurs and pros it was an extremely difficult to choose but one man in particular stood out.

So without any further ado, the award goes to:

Jono Carroll

Rarely is a grudge so emphatically ended as Carroll’s with Declan Geraghty was.

The pair shared the Irish Fight of the Year back in 2014 following a post-main event swing bout at the 3Arena.

The rematch took place in front of the BT Sport cameras on the massive Mick Conlan Homecoming bill and, following years of hype and anticipation, it didn’t disappoint.

A slight underdog beforehand, Carroll dominated throughout, forcing Geraghty to touch down in the third and having his long-time rival out on his feet from the fifth – with the bout eventually being waved off in the ninth.

A relentless performance exhibiting the Finglas-Dunshaughlin fighter’s fitness, gameplan, and growing power, few expect the rematch to be this decisive.

It was the sweetest of show-stealing victories for Carroll who again had made a big impression throughout the fight week and now looks to be just one win away from a world title shot.

Coming in second was Derry middleweight Connor Coyle who topped a bill in Florida and won his first belt with a stoppage of Danny Pastrana. In third was another Derry fighter – super bantam Tyrone McCullagh who also had a maiden title win, taking the BBBoC Celtic belt on the Mick Conlan Homecoming card by schooling Scot Joe Ham.
