The Portlaoise super bantamweight won the IBF world title in incredible circumstances.

‘The Power’ did what few other have done, becoming just the second fighter from the UK or Ireland after Wayne McCullough to win a world title fight in Japan.

The Sydney-based Boston-trained fighter dethroned Ryosuke Iwasa, winning a unanimous decision following a smart performance at the famous Korakuen Hall.

Becoming Ireland’s third reigning world champ, Doheny upset the odds and wrote his name into the history books.
