Recent World title challenger next up for Katie Taylor

Katie Taylor [3(2)-0] will take a step up in class for her fourth professional bout next weekend.

World title challenger Milena Kovleva [9(3)-7(1)-1] will provide the next test for the Matchroom prospect.

The London 2012 gold medal winner fights for the fourth time as a professional on the undercard of Anthony Crolla’s world lightweight title fight with Jorge Linares at the Manchester Arena on Saturday March 25th and the Bulgarian will provide the opposition.

Taylor had been set to fight Kovleva earlier this month on the Haye-Bellew pay-per-view undercard – but a chest infection would force Monica Gentili to step in.

The 28 year old has gone the distance with some of the more established names around the weight and comes into the clash on the back of a World title challenge.

Kovleva fought Maiva Hamadouche for the vacant IBF super featherweight title as recent as January, but was stopped for the first time in her career in the last round against the French power puncher.

The fight represents another step up for Taylor, who has looked more than comfortable since turning over, and provides the Bray fighter with a chance to lay down another marker on a massive Sky broadcast bill.
