Ray Moylette scores brilliant Boston win

Ray Moylette put on an impressive display in Boston tonight, scoring an entertaining win over an ambitious opponent on his American debut.

The Mayo fan-favourite fought on the Murphys Boxing St Patrick’s Clash at the House of Blues, returning to the ring just three weeks following his pro debut in London.

The 2011 European gold medalist took on local scrapper Matt Probin, and claimed a competitive points win in a contest where his class would tell.

Probin started aggressively, but was stunned badly by a wonderful uppercut from Moylette, and the Westerner would send him down soon after with a barrage of shots.

The American would see out the round, and came back gamely in the second, but ‘Sting Ray’ would remain on top off the jab.

Moylette really started to hit his stride in the third, boxing well off the back foot with an impressive range of shots, the uppercut again being particularly eye-catching.

Probin, bloodied at the nose, continued to roll forward in the final round, admitably looking for the big knockout blow, but Moylette would pick him off regularly with the hook to see out the round and the fight.

Going to the cards, the Irishman was handed a 40:35 win from two judges, with one choosing to award Probin a round.

The win sees Moylette improve his fledgling pro record to 2(0)-0, while Probin falls to 2(0)-3(0)-1
