Ray Moylette Mayo Homecoming – UNDERCARD OPPONENTS CONFIRMED

On Friday night the terrestrial TV cameras will be back on Irish boxing with the Ray Moylette Mayo Homecoming card in Castlebar.

The TF Royal Theatre will play host to the Assassin Promotions bill which will be shown live on TG4.

Moylette [11(4)-0] headlines in a WBC lightweight rankings title fight versus game Mexican Christian Uruzquieta [17(6)-4(1)-1], while Cork’s Spike O’Sullivan [28(20)-3(2)] will begin his comeback and move towards light middleweight with an eight-rounder versus Hungarian Gabor Gorbics [26(16)-13(5)] in the chief support.

There is also a ten-fight undercard, with numerous fights to be shown on TV, and the bill has now been largely matched.

Featuring on the TV portion of the undercard, Dylan Moran [7(5)-0] will face Nicaraguan Nelson Altamirano [10(6)-20(11)-2]. Irish fans will remember the Central American for his game showings against lightweights Stephen Ormond and Paul Hyland Jr. During the summer he was stopped in three by new British champion Johnny Garton and represents a solid step-up for Moran following a number of early stoppages.

Finally back in the ring after years out, mercurially talented Cuban light heavyweight Luis Garcia [15(12)-0] starts a process weight loss and regaining ring sharpness with a four rounder versus Croat cruiser Ivan Brkljaca [2(1)-4(2)].

Making his return from defeat to Anthony Fowler, Dublin light middle Craig O’Brien [8(0)-1(1)] boxes Croatian journeyman Almin Kovacevic [12(4)-27(11)-3]. The Balkan has been stopped in his last four bouts, perhaps offering O’Brien the chance for a maiden knockout in their six rounder.

Back in the ring following his Last Man Standing payment controversy, Athy middleweight Roy Sheahan [4(1)-0] takes a short-notice four rounder and has been matched with veteran Pole Lukasz Rafalko [1(0)-1(0)] who dropped Waterford’s Craig McCarthy heavily on the last Assassin show.

In another four rounder, Ballybrack super feather Niall O’Connor [4(3)-0] takes on Pole Krzysztof Rogowski [10(5)-27(15)], something of a step up and an opportunity to compare with a number of his fellow Irish fighters.

Returning after undergoing a nose procedure following his BUI Celtic light welterweight title win over Karl Kelly, Rathmichael’s Victor Rabei [5(1)-0] will ease back in in a four rounder versus durable Croat Antonio Horvatic [10(5)-52(13)].

Less than two months on from his debut, Swords heavy Paddy Nevin [1(0)-0] has a four rounder with Croatian cruiser Hrvoje Boxinovic [2(0)-18(9)].

Cavan light middleweight Owen Duffy [2(1)-0] will face fellow southpaw Ivan Duvancic [5(3)-25(10)-1] a veteran from Croatia.

Teenage Sligo welter Aaron Gethins makes his debut on the card and is down to face another Croatian in Silvije Kebet [2(1)-17(7)] in a four rounder.

Dublin cruiser Johnny Corcoran [1(1)-0] is also on the bill in a four rounder but his opponent remains to be announced.
